Jared's 6th Birthday

Another overdue post.
On 14 April 2015, Jared turned 6. However everyone tells me he looks like a 8 or 9 year old boy. Oh, how time has flown by, no longer a baby but he kept insisting that he is still a baby.
Many weeks before his birthday he told me he wanted a Frozen birthday cake. I managed to get the Frozen figurines from a baking shop and made him a simple sponge cake decorated with cream and the figurines. He was simply excited when he got to decorate the cake with the figures.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JARED. YOU WILL ALWAYS BE OUR BABY...

Mum's Birthday

This is an overdue post . I baked a cake for my mum's birthday and we went out for dinner to celebrate within our family.
May my mum be happy and healthy for many more years to come.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MUM..

Merry Christmas 2014

Jared has been pestering us to buy a Christmas tree since last year when we were in Oregon. I told him that we would get one this year. Early this month, he reminded me again after seeing some Christmas tree decorations in shopping malls. So there it is our little Christmas tree with some ornaments for them to decorate the tree. They even pretend to wrap presents and put them under the tree. I secretly bought presents and left them under the tree without their knowledge and I made Jared believe that they were from Santa Claus who had come to leave them presents because they are good kids. I think he is 50-50 into believing it as he kept asking me if I was the Santa Claus.. hahaha.. hohoho..

2 weeks ago, I received a parcel which was sent through courier service to my office. It was a present from my cousin sister in KL. Can you guess what they are.. So cute and really useful for me.
Thank you for your thoughtfulness :)

Emily's 11th Birthday

Time flies..Emily turned 11 last Friday. She had been requesting for a birthday party since 2 years ago but each time I had turned down her request. This year I decided to hold a simple party for her but she was only allowed to invite 2 of her closest friends (mummy is too lazy to clean up after that). I have also invited 2 of my ex schoolmates and their kids for a yearly gathering.
Baked a cheesecake for her birthday cake, prepared cheese tarts, satay, spaghetti, laksa, jelly, fruit salad, red eggs and also muffin as party pack.
After the party, she told me that it is her best birthday so far :)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Our Growing Up BABY !!

My Dad at 72

Early this month, we celebrated my dad's 72nd birthday. We had a modest celebration by having a family dinner and I baked a carrot cream cheese cake for him. Emily and Jared also made Birthday Greeting cards for grandpa on the actual day which coincidently fell on a Saturday and dad & mum came over to stay at our house for a night. Kids were really thrilled to host their grandparents.

May he be blessed with many more years of good health...

Year End Concerts

It's the time of the year again where all kindergartens organise their annual concerts.
This year Jared and his classmates are dressed in cowboy suits. They all looked so cute in their costumes.

Tonight we all attended Emily's ballet school Performance and Appreciation Day. Every grade students performed a dance. Emily was really excited about her dance and she told me that she has had an enjoyable night.

Mid Autumn Festival

Today, the 15th day of the 8th lunar month in Chinese calendar, we celebrate the Mid Autumn Festival, which also known as Mooncake Festival or Lantern Festival.
Kids are happy because they get to play with lanterns and most importantly eat mooncakes, which are their favourites.

In hokkien, it's known as Leng kak. This is the first time my kids saw this and they think it is too errie to be eaten :). It looks like some kind of alien, isn't it ?

Happy Mid Autumn to Everyone...

2nd Day of CNY 2014

This year I followed my parents to visit my aunties and cousins (mum's side) on the 2nd day of CNY, the last time I did so was 7 years ago. It was a great gathering, we met so many relatives, some flew back from China, New Zealand and Singapore.

Happy 10th Birthday, Emily

Today is Emily's 10th birthday. She has been looking forward to this day, few weeks ago, she created her own calender and did her countdown every morning. Kids are kids, I told her I wouldn't be looking forward to my birthday bcoz it will make me a year older :)
Yesterday, she and I baked a chocolate with cream cheese cake and this morning she did the decorations on her cake with cherries, blueberries and raspberries.

Jared hung these on the apartment window since few days ago for Jie Jie's Birthday Party and his version of Christmas Party :)

Finally! We've Moved Into Our New Home.

We have been extremely busy for the past few months due to our new house renovations. As with any renovations, a lot of  time and energy had to be thrown into it, all the way from initial design till the last piece of the renovation works. Not forgetting all the arguments with the ID.

On 8 September 2013, we finally moved into our new home with a minimal amount of incomplete jobs. My Dad and Mum came over early in the morning to perform some simple rituals. My brother and sister-in-law also visited us later that day.

Up till today, we have not finished unpacking all our stuffs, we still do not have a dining table, our windows blinds will only be installed at the end of this week, grass at our backyard that needs cutting, not mentioning the uncleared rubbish in our previous condo. Very tiring and yet fulfilling.

We have stayed in our condo for slightly more than 14 years, so you can imagine the amount of "rubbish" that we have accumulated over time. A lot of sweet memories that we have cherished in our old nest, to mention a few; our wedding ceremony and both my pregnancies of Emily and Jared. The kids don't seem to miss their previous home but I surely do especially the beautiful scenery of huge trees which flowers during spring time frame every year.

Goodbye to our Old Nest and we look forward to a new beginning in our New Nest.

Father's Day 2013

Emily drew a card for daddy and it was very nice of her daycare teacher to help her post the card through mail to our home. Jared also made daddy a sun shade in his kindy.

Black Bottom Cupcakes for Teacher's Day Celebration

Jared came home a few days ago with a notice from his school informing us of Teacher's Day Celebration. Each kid is requested to bring some food to share with their friends and teachers. I can't really recall how he ended up asking me to bake some cupcakes for him. I found a nice recipe for Black Bottom cupcakes from JoyOfBaking. It is quite a simple recipe to follow and tastes good.

Unfortunately Jared didn't get to help out in the preparation  as I started quite late. Yesterday was also the last day of the 2nd term exam, so Emily happily helped me to prepare some of the cupcakes. It was way past midnight when the last batch of cupcakes were done :). I then chilled them in the refrigerator as recommended.

Jared was very delighted to see the cupcakes when he woke up this morning, big smile on his face :)
