Hubby's Birthday

Hubby celebrated his birthday last week, which fell on the same day as the 2nd Penang Bridge Marathon. Memorable day as it was also his first time participating in the 10km run. 

Baked him a cheese cake with chocolate filling. Ran out of idea on the decorations, so Emily and I decided to let the cake speaks for itself of the birthday man's age J

My Birthday..

Another year has passed. Yesterday was my birthday, however we didn't have any celebration at all due to Jared's coxsackie. We also decided not to get any cake as we don't want him to salivate looking at us eating, poor boy..

Emily finished her exam on last Friday. She decided to give me an ecard instead, so she used daddy's laptop to create 4 cute slides as my birthday card.

Jared also wanted to make one for me after seeing the cute slides, so daddy helped him with it.

We were all so bored staying at home, so called quarantined, for the whole weekend except sending Emily to her tuition classes.

Emily wrote this story after reading the Chicken Soup for the Soul book which she borrowed from the public library. Jared was disappointed because jie jie used the name Harry (this girl is in love with Harry Porter) instead of Jared in her story :)

Happy Mother's Day

Another year of Mother's Day celebration with the kids. Nothing special on this day, still need to prepare breakfast and the rest of the meals as we do not want to get caught in the crowded restaurants. Emily woke up in the morning and was the first to wish me Happy Mother's Day and gave me a big hug. Jared seemed to have forgotten about it this morning, however he has already wished me many times last night :) 

Emily will be having her exams this week, so we didn't do anything special except making sure she did her revisions.

me on last Friday.

Their loving thoughts really made my day. But I told them that they should make everyday Mother's Day :) :)

Mum's Birthday Celebration

Every year during the month of April, I will be celebrating 2 of the most important persons in my life, none other than my Mum and Jared. This year I baked a sponge cake for my mum but it didn't turn out as well as the one I baked last year as I am still adjusting to my new oven.

I have been wanting to buy a turn table for icing my cakes, so when I saw this in one of the baking ingredients shop for a reasonable price, I immediately bought it. This turn table makes is so much simpler to apply the frosting and smooth it. I can also use it as a turn table for my dishes :)

Jared's 5th Birthday

Tomorrow, Jared will be turning 5. We had an earlier celebration for him today at home within ourselves.
He has changed his mind 3 times about the type of cake he wanted and finally settled for a minion cake. I found some minions cake topper made of sugar when I was getting the ingredients for his cake from the baking ingredients shop. 
This year I decided to make him banana chocolate cupcakes, top with cream cheese frosting, added with edible yellow color.

Birthday Man, 2013

Today is hubby's birthday. We did not have any big celebration and a birthday is incomplete without a birthday cake, so I decided to bake him a simple brownie using premix brownie mix as I do not have all the necessary baking utensils. Kids were excited and happy as they get to sing birthday song for daddy. Emily also made a card for daddy and later insisted to buy daddy a card when she saw this lovely card in the
Dollar Tree shop.

My Birthday..

Last Friday was my birthday. It was just another day but happy to receive many birthday wishes from hubby, kids and friends. Hubby bought me a cake, as usual the kids are the most excited and sang me 2 birthday songs, 1 in English and another in Mandarin. Later in the evening, we went out for a simple dinner. 

Emily also gave me a card that she made at her daycare centre. This girl can be very sweet and occasionally heart-wrenching too.

Getting older has made me reflective and while some things are difficult to reflect on, I am enjoying the process.

Jared's 4th Birthday

Last Sunday, our boy has turned 4. He has been looking forward to his birthday and even requested for an IronMan cake. Initially I had wanted to order a cake for him but since I have baked my mum a cake, I thought I should also bake one for him. I managed to convince him that his cake will not be Ironman, instead will have M&Ms on it. It was a chocolate cake and I used the same dressing as my mum's cake, adding M&Ms, coconut  and dark chocolate flakes and ferrero rocher as decorations. 

 

Jared was really excited and happy to see his cake when he woke up in the morning. Emily also made him a birthday card.

After seeing mummy in action, he also pretended to bake a cake for himself, using the birthday star given to him by his kindy.
