Year End Concerts

It's the time of the year again where all kindergartens organise their annual concerts.
This year Jared and his classmates are dressed in cowboy suits. They all looked so cute in their costumes.

Tonight we all attended Emily's ballet school Performance and Appreciation Day. Every grade students performed a dance. Emily was really excited about her dance and she told me that she has had an enjoyable night.

Teacher's Day Celebration & Coxsackie

Jared's school had a Teacher's Day celebration on last Thursday. As Parents were asked to bring some food to share with teachers and students. I made sausage puffs using the kawan brand paratha pastry and fruity nut cake. He was really excited and looking forward to the party. Kept telling me that he wanted to share the food with his friends and teachers. And he reminded jie jie to wake up early so that he would reach school early for the party :).

After lunch, his teacher phoned me to say that Jared was having mild fever. So we left office earlier to pick him up from school. By night time, he was still having fever. We continued to feed him paracetamol and the fever came down after that. I had to work from home the next day since his fever recur. By evening he was complaining of sore throat and unable to swallow anything. My worst fear came true, when I checked his mouth and saw few white spots on the inner part of his mouth, I suspected it to be HFMD. We immediately took him to the specialist for further check-up. Dr checked his hands and feet for any red spots but there weren't any, however there were many spots on the inner part of his mouth. He prescribed Antibiotics as he was worried it would developed into secondary bacteria infections. However I did not give it to Jared as Coxsackie is a viral disease. After searching for more information on google, we understand that there is no specific treatment. Treatment is aimed at fever control and maintaining good oral hydration. The oral spray prescribed by the dr. help to lessen the pain by giving some numbed feeling to the sores.

Yesterday he could only eat my home-made yoghurt, ice cream, boiled eggs and cereal with cold milk. Today he is much better, I do not see new sores or worsening existing sores. He was able to eat pancakes for breakfast, lots of yoghurt and porridge for lunch and dinner.

We will quarantine him at home for the next few days. Praying for speedy recovery..

Happy to be staying at home and not going to school.

US Trip 2013 - Day 1

Hubby is on a 3 month working assignment in the US and coincidently it overlaps with the long school holidays. After all the last minute preparations for visa and flight ticket arrangement, here I am today flying off with Emily and Jared to meet their daddy in US. This is the first time  Jared travelling out of the country. Hope he will be fine with the long journey. As for Emily, she is equally excited as this will be her 3rd time travelling there and that was like 5 years ago.
Will be spending the  night in Changi Transit Hotel before catching an early flight tomorrow morning.

Kids' Christmas Party

Today, Emily's daycare and Jared's kindy had a Christmas Party. Every kid is required to bring some food for the party. I decided to make Gula Melaka Coconut milk jelly and double chocolate muffins. Both of them were very excited with the idea and volunteered to help. I bought the pre-mix muffin flour, therefore it was easy for Emily to prepare them. And they enjoyed scooping the mixture into the paper cups.

Merry Christmas & A Happy New Year to Everyone !!!

Happy Father's Day

This post is to pay tribute to all the wonderful "Daddies" out there, especially to my darling hubby. Appreciate all the sacrifices that you have made to spend time with the kids. Thanks for being the SUPER DADDY to Emily and Jared.

Emily has also secretly made a greeting card for daddy, she is very eager to give daddy the card after finish decorating it but I told her it will have to be a surprise for daddy on the actual day.
Last weekend we already had a Father's Day lunch at Sarkies Corner with my dad and mum. Will probably have a simple meal tomorrow with hubby and kids.

......HAPPY FATHER"S DAY....

Jared's 1st Birthday

We celebrated Jared's birthday on last Saturday, 4 days earlier, because the actual day falls on a weekday. It was a modest birthday party with family members at my brother's house.

As I had wanted to keep nice photographs for this event, I engaged my brother, who is a "professional photographer" :), to be Jared's photographer for the night.

We ordered a cake with the design of basketball as Jared loves his basketball toy.

He was so excited the moment he saw the candle lit up and wanted to grab the fire, LOL. He doesn't seem to understand what was happening that night but was surely enjoying all the attention given to him by Ah Kong, Ah Ma, Ah Ku, Ah Kim, his cousins and jie jie.

Happy Birthday my darling Jared.

Doesn't he look so behaved posing with his birthday cake or is it just a camera trick ? :)

The Full Moon Celebration

We celebrated Jared's full moon in small scale, with "Nasi kunyit", "ang ku" and red eggs. MIL cooked some delicious dishes and my parents came over for lunch. Hubby and I also went to distribute the full moon sets to friends and relatives.
