US Trip 2013 - Hillsboro Oregon

This is our 2nd day here. Weather is cold and wet. We have not really got over our jetlag as Emily woke up at 3am and couldn't sleep anymore. 
Since it is a working day for daddy, we took a leisurely walk around the apartment neighbourhood after breakfast.

US Trip 2013 - Day 1

Hubby is on a 3 month working assignment in the US and coincidently it overlaps with the long school holidays. After all the last minute preparations for visa and flight ticket arrangement, here I am today flying off with Emily and Jared to meet their daddy in US. This is the first time  Jared travelling out of the country. Hope he will be fine with the long journey. As for Emily, she is equally excited as this will be her 3rd time travelling there and that was like 5 years ago.

Will be spending the  night in Changi Transit Hotel before catching an early flight tomorrow morning.

Yesterday, hubby, his colleague and I drove down to KL to settle an urgent stuff. We had to leave the kids with Ah Kong & Ah Ma for 1 night as it was not convenient to bring them along. It has been many years since the last time Emily stayed with her grandparents. She has been extremely excited and looking forward to it, since her cousin brother is her best playmate. As for Jared, this is the first time he is sleeping without us. According to jie jie, he did cry a little for mummy but thankfully jie jie was there to console him. 
When we return this evening, Emily showed me a drawing that she has drawn for us while we were away. We were surprised and are deeply touched by her sentiment.
Emily, Thank you, We love you and didi too.

My First Sushi Making Attempt

I bought this package from Jusco a few days ago. 

For today's lunch and dinner, my family has to make do on sushi :). This is the first time I am making this dish. However I didn't use Japanese rice, instead only the normal fragrance rice. For the filling, I used avocado, grilled salmon, sausages and eggs. The rice turned out to be a little brownish because I used molasses instead of white sugar. Unfortunately it was a tad salty, will need to reduce the salt quantity in future.

Emily loves sushi and she happily told me that she had eaten 12 pieces :)
