CNY celebrations are all about family gatherings, meeting with friends, giving angpows, playing fireworks and most importantly eating, could it be cookies, oranges or sui bak :)
Our celebration kicked off with a steamboat dinner at my brother's place on the Sunday before CNY. It was a great family gathering as we got to chit chat, joke and the kids mingled among themselves while waiting for the ingredients to boil in the steamboat pot, indeed a precious time.
This year we also managed to visit a few old friends, 2 of them are my ex-Convent classmates and some friends from hubby's hometown. It was really great to meet up with them after such a long time, in fact I have not seen one of the classmates for more than 20 years.
At my inlaw's place, it was also very happening as hubby has 7 siblings, so just imagine the situation when all the adults, grandchildren and great grandchildren are back home. As usual my MIL will be busy cooking in the kitchen, from morning till afternoon. Can see that she is tired but yet happy that all her children are around to savour her delicious cookings. One of my favourite dishes is her black sauce meat, the best that I have ever tasted but only if you like FAT meat!! :)
I guess kids also enjoy the most during this time of the year, receiving so many angpows, getting to play fireworks and also meeting up with cousins. Emily surely enjoyed the company of her cousin sisters and missed them a lot when she came home.
