Eating Out

Last Saturday we decided to eat out as we have not done so since Jared was born. We chose a restaurant just opposite our apartment, Fisherman's Grill, didn't want to take any risk of going too far as this is the first time we have brought Jared out for dinner, couldn't predict how he would behave.

Since our tummies were still full from eating durians and black glutinuous rice that afternoon, we decided to order only 2 main dish and an appetizer. We went for the set dinner which came with mushroom soup, salmon, buttered fish, fries and a muffin topped with cream. Another main dish was chicken with spaghetti (can't remember it's exact name). Poh piah was our appetizer. The mushroom soup and poh piah were good.

Thumbs up to Jared for behaving throughout our dinner...

King of the Fruit..Durian

Durian session has arrived, I was craving to eat durian for many weeks already but never bought any coz they were too pricy since it was just the beginning of the season. Last Saturday morning when hubby went to market, he bought some durians at a reasonable price, RM7 each, but they were just normal kampung durians. Regardless, it was a satisfying treat as the taste was good.

Look at how our little girl was savoring her favourite fruit, YUMMY...

Jared @ 5 weeks

Weight : 5.1kg, weighed 1 week ago

Phew.. time really flies. Jared is already 5 weeks old. He definately has grown and becoming more demanding, screeching at the top of his voice the moment he wakes up and wants milk. His milk intake has increased to 4oz, interval of 2-3 hours, mixture of breastmilk and formula. Still wakes up twice at night for feeding. He has also started cooing at times when we speak to him, sometimes smiling to us too. The other day when hubby placed Jared on his tummy, he was able to lift up his head more than 1 inch high, a good sign that he has strong neck muscles and bones.

Looking forward to more interations with my little cutie in the coming weeks....

1 Year Older

Yesterday was my birthday, we were supposed to go out for dinner but ended up eating at home because Emily had high fever in the evening. Instead hubby bought a small cake and Emily sang me a birthday song.

Becoming a parent of 2, kids have taken priority over many things, including going out to dinner but I am not complaining :)

Nothing Fits Me ...

I went through my wardrobe this afternoon, clearing away all the maternity clothes and going through the pants that I used to wear before I was pregnant. As I have to bring Jared to his Pediatrician for his 2nd hepatitis injection tomorrow, I wanted to find something decent to wear.
Unfortunately I could not fit into any of the pants of size S, M and even L ... What a disappointment !

Hopefully I will get back to my original size before I start working again, else will have to ditch out alot of money to buy new clothes. Hmm... probably a good excuse to go shopping :)

The Full Moon Celebration

We celebrated Jared's full moon in small scale, with "Nasi kunyit", "ang ku" and red eggs. MIL cooked some delicious dishes and my parents came over for lunch. Hubby and I also went to distribute the full moon sets to friends and relatives.

Our Little Pianist

This is a video clip showing Emily playing one of her piano pieces. Giving her some credit for practicing diligently by recording her while she was playing and replaying it to her.
Can't deny she still has alot to catch up on her hand postures while playing....

Jared at 3 weeks

I have been pretty occupied for the past 3 weeks since Jared was born, nursing him most of the time, changing diapers and trying to steal some sleep for myself . The moment he wakes up, he will cry for milk and kicks his leg. Sometimes I am so amused with his actions. Besides that he aslo poops alot and I was changing diapers almost every hour or even more. I try to use cloth diapers during the day time but I noticed that he slept longer when he was wearing diapers as he would wake up when the cloth diaper was wet due to his pee. But I am avoiding diapers as much as possible as they caused some rashes on his delicate skin. I am glad my MIL is around to help me during my confinement, cooking all the nutritious food. Both grandma and grandson are bonding well too, I can sense the happiness in her when she is with Jared.

Currently Jared is fed with my breastmilk as well as formula as my supply is insufficient to fulfill his needs. Now I am expressing milk every 2.5 hours and feeding him using bottles. Total supply for a day is only about 22 oz. Hopefully the supply will increase and I can totally remove formula milk.

His sleeping behaviour has also changed after the 2nd week, sleeping very little during morning and afternoon time and always crying for milk when he was awake. At night time, he will wake up twice to be fed, interval of 2 - 3 hours. Sometimes I will call him an alarm clock because he is so punctual and woke me up exactly 2 hours after his previous feeding :)

I am glad he is also gaining weight well, at 20 days, his weight has increased to ~4.3kg.
