Jared's 6th Birthday

Another overdue post.
On 14 April 2015, Jared turned 6. However everyone tells me he looks like a 8 or 9 year old boy. Oh, how time has flown by, no longer a baby but he kept insisting that he is still a baby.
Many weeks before his birthday he told me he wanted a Frozen birthday cake. I managed to get the Frozen figurines from a baking shop and made him a simple sponge cake decorated with cream and the figurines. He was simply excited when he got to decorate the cake with the figures.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JARED. YOU WILL ALWAYS BE OUR BABY...

Mum's Birthday

This is an overdue post . I baked a cake for my mum's birthday and we went out for dinner to celebrate within our family.
May my mum be happy and healthy for many more years to come.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MUM..

Jose Cuervo Tequila Tour

I have always heard about tequila but have never tried any before. In this trip, I had some experiences drinking tequila cocktails. I have also been using agave syrup at home as sweetener, not knowing that the same plant is also used to make tequila.

Sunday was our free day. We decided to sign up for a tequila tour. The tour bus picked us from our hotel in the morning. Together with other visitors, we headed into Tequila city in Jalisco where all the true tequila comes from. We were first brought to Jose Cuervo Agave Farm where the tour guide explained how the blue agave plant is planted and harvested.

We then took the bus to the factory where the agave plant is processed into tequila. We were only allowed to take photos at the outer area of the factory and photography is forbidden inside the factory.

After the tour, we went back to hotel around evening time. It was a tiring trip but fun and informative.

Tlaquepaque, Mexico

Last Saturday, we managed to steal some time from work to visit Tlaquepaque, a city in Mexican state of Jalisco.  It is famous for its pottery and blown glass. There were many interesting things to see and buy. Surprisingly, leather items are cheap too. Unfortunately we did not exchange enough Pesos, at the end of the day we just have enough money to take a cab back to hotel :)

1st Visit to Guadalajara, Mexico

It has been almost 5 years since I last travelled on a business trip due to family commitments. After CNY, my boss ping me to tell me that I will have to travel to Mexico for 2 weeks to setup some systems in our plant here.
Before departure, I did some chores schedule for hubby and kids while I was away :). I am so proud that they are doing great without me around :) Hubby is even baking bread for the kids using our newly bought breadmaker, thumbs up to him J

Some updates of what the kids were doing while I was away. Emily's ballet school had a Parents Day yesterday where all parents are invited to preview the kids dances in preparation for their 5th grade exam in early April. I am glad daddy was able to make it to watch her dance despite his tight schedule, having to fetch Jared to TKD.

This is Jared (in red vest), doing his kicks during yesterday's TKD session.

I arrived in Guadalajara late last Saturday. On Sunday, my colleague who was already familiar with this place, took us to downtown to visit the Central Market where there is a huge market place with locals selling local products. Leather products in Mexico are cheap. Managed to buy some souveniers. We also visited some cathedrals with nice architectures.

Half Day Trip to Penang Hill

During the recent Christmas day, we took the opportunity to visit Penang Hill. The last time I visited this place was during my secondary school years :)
To avoid long queue, we left house as early as possible and reached there before 8am. There was already a short queue waiting for the train arrival.
The new train travels at much higher speed compare to previous one and within 10 mins we are at the peak of the hill. We were welcomed by cool refreshing breeze and weather was really good on that day.

We also visited the Owl Museum, but it is a very small place with not so many exhibits.

Saw these super bikes when we returned to the bottom of the hill at noon time.
