Langkawi Family Trip - Day 3 (15/10/12)

We had planned to spend the whole morning at the beach, however, we woke up to a rainy weather. So we had to change plan. After taking our breakfast, we went to check-out from this resort. I have booked 2 different accomodations as we wanted the kids to experience both beach environment as well as hotel facilities. The hotels with facilites by the beach were a little too pricey.
We left our luggage at the resort lounge and drove to Langkawi Underwater World. Good thing we had plan to visit this place of attraction today and the rain doesn't seem to bother us at all. We waited for a few minutes before the door was opened at 10am. Ticket price was RM28 for adults and RM18 for kids.

As we entered the Aquarium, there are some flamingos and birds at the tropical forest area.
There are various types of sharks, stingrays, jellyfish, eels and other types of fishes.

The main attraction for the kids is the Penguins World. There are 2 types of penguin species at 2 different section, Rockhopper and African penguins. We waited awhile to watch the penguins being fed with small fish.

By 12+pm, we were out from there. I would give this place a miss if I were to visit Langkawi again. We went around to hunt for lunch and ended up in The Boat restaurant. Ordered 3 dishes and all three turned out to be disappointing.

Seemed like every dish was cooked with roughly cut cabbages.

After lunch, Emily insisted she wanted to visit the Mahsuri Mausoluem. She has heard about the ill-fated Mahsuri legend from her teacher. Hubby and Jared waited outside while I went in with her. Ticket price is RM5 for adults, RM2 for Emily. In Mahsuri Complex, we saw the traditional Malay houses where Mahsuri and her family lived before and some others. There were also many posters with pictures and stories about the Mahsuri legends in the Mahsuri Musuem.

After that, we went to get our luggage and headed to our next hotel, Awana Porto Malai. It is located in a secluded corner of Pantai Cenang and does not have a beach front. However it has a long boardwalk over seeing the sea. Very nice scenery at night. I booked through Agoda and paid RM192 with breakfast for four. We also requested for 2 single beds and suprisingly the beds turned out to be big. Room size is good, the toilet and bathroom is separated. It also has a balcony with garden and swimming pool view.

We took some afternoon snacks, enjoyed watching tv and rest awhile before we went down for a swim in the pool.

For dinner we went to Cactus which was recommended by my colleague and many others online. It has a variety of asian and western dishes. We ordered fish n chips and grilled chicken. Taste were good, portions were big and price was very reasonable. The owner is a friendly guy from Penang.
