Day 2 (Day Trip to Nara)

We started our journey early on Day 2 as we made a day trip to Nara by Kintetsu train. The journey took about 70 minutes.
On that day, it was raining. We had no choice but to continue with the plan since we already had other itineraries in the days ahead.
On the way to the train station, we passed through some interesting shops.

The highlight for coming to Nara was to see the park's famed tame deer at Nara Park. We walked about 10 minutes from Kintetsu station to the park which is located at the heart of Nara City. When we reached the park, there were many free roaming deers. We bought the deer's favourite snack (shika sembei deer biscuit) from one of the street vendors. Emily and Jared were thrilled to feed these deers.

The first site of historical importance we came to was Kofukuji Temple. It adjoins a five-tiered pagoda and has become an unofficial symbol of Nara.
